  • I’ve always dreamed of visiting Italy, but I've never wanted to be one of those tourists in a sea of tourists. Going without a tour guide seemed intimidating. This trip was so perfect, I went twice. You have the luxury of having a guide, but the groups are small and intimate. You stay in your own renovated villa, and experience life in a small Italian village, and truly live like a local. Each morning started with cappuccino in the piazza and ended at the pub in town. The twelve hours in between was filled with beaches, dining, shops, wineries, and discovering Italy.   • I can’t recommend Calabrian Girl Tours enough. My dream of traveling to Italy almost came to an end when my friend was no longer able to accompany me. I heard about Kathy and her tour group so I reached out. After talking to Kathy and hearing what she offered with her tour I took a leap of faith and traveled solo to the quaint mountain top village of Miglierina. Boy was I glad I did! I never once felt alone. Kathy and the townspeople were so welcoming. The group I traveled with became like family. Each morning we would meet in the piazza for a breakfast of fresh fruit, croissants, and of course cappuccino. Then off we would go to explore the many scenic towns of southern Calabria. Each stop was more breathtakingly beautiful than the next. And what can I say about the food and wine!! The never ending, and I mean never ending, array of deliciousness! Thank goodness we did a lot of walking! Friends ask which town was my favorite. I can’t say because each stop holds a special memory. If you want to truly experience southern Italy without the hustle and bustle of a tourist trap, Calabrian Girl Tours is the way to go. I can’t wait to return to be reacquainted with my new found friends.
